Descope's $35M Seed Extension and the Future of Agentic Identity

Descope announced a $35M seed extension, bringing total funding to $88M. 

What makes Descope special? It's the rare combo of deep cybersecurity DNA + obsessive focus on developer experience. They've turned identity management, a traditionally painful and  code-heavy process, into a drag & drop experience across native web and mobile apps, federated systems, and AI rollouts.

Glenn Solomon and I first met Slavik Markovich when he was raising Demisto's Series C in one of my earliest meetings as a VC. We didn't win that deal, but were blown away by the team’s impressive execution and impressive vision.

In the years that followed, I stayed close to Slavik over quarterly cortados at his favorite coffee joint in Los Altos. And when he was ready to start his next company, we were there to co-lead the seed with Lightspeed.

Since launching from stealth in February 2023, Descope has scaled to over a thousand organizations in production including enterprises like Databricks and GoFundMe, tens of thousands of developers, and hundreds of millions of identities under management. The product execution has been extraordinary.

As AI agents and MCP servers proliferate, every organization needs to rethink authentication. Descope is already building the identity infrastructure for the AI-first world.
